Causes:
  • There are many reasons for behavior contracts, including: holding students accountable, increasing student motivation and effort, providing organization/structure/routine for student, improving student buy in, eliminating specific behavior(s), etc.




Rates of occurrence:
  • Each student is a little different. They are so versatile, and that this is why it is effective for teachers to use behavior contracts with students, with different rates of occurrence.




Common behaviors associated with topic:
  • Not turning in assignments
  • Many times it's repetitive, disrupting behavior (tardy, yelling in the halls, etc)
  • Can be implemented not only in the classroom, but also outside the classroom examples being problems in the cafeteria, library, computer lab etc.
  • Example: A student constantly blurts out answers instead of raising his or her hand.
